Pride and Peacock by emu-strutsi Pride and Peacock by emu-strutsi
Finally got my shoe sculpture bird home!

He's made of a well kept and served black high heel. I cut the toepart away and put some feathers and wire swrils (some of which seasoned with wool or paint) instead. I tightened the body with iron wire to make it look more birdish and build him a neck and head out of gypsum and iron wire. Added a touch of paint and voilá!

Marvelous idea! If I ever want to get rid of my heeled shoes, I sure will be thinking of doing this with them! I really like the wired part!

Wow, this is an awesome idea! I love it! If the toe part would still be there, you could put them on :)

:giggle: Very creative use of old footwear :)
I love the metal wire sort of wrapping around the shoe, and the swirls are pretty cool :aww:
The feather on the head was a nice touch, too :D I bet you did well on this project

I liked the metal wire around too, it looked nice so I just left it as it is. The swirls and the feathers are my favourite part of this, real peacock fetahers would have been really nice but we didn't have any, I'm glad I found those with the dots :D We don't get grades actually, this was made in my hobby-kind-of art school but my teacher fell in love with these shoe sculptures so she send them to an exhibition of our and some other art schools in our area. So it's quite cool, like yeah, I've had my work in a real art exhibiton :D
